Our PAC strongly supported the annual "Bal Maskowy" (pre-Lenten Masked Ball) in
February 2006. The event is organized by Wisconsin's famed Syrena Polish Dance
Ensemble. From left: Atty. John Pienkos, PAC National Director; Mrs. Ada
Dziewanowska, renowned Artistic Director of the Syrena Dancers; Mr. Bob Leonard
(in classic Szlachta attire), Syrena activist and PAC member; and Sgt. First
Class Glenn Ramski, past Syrena president just returned from active military
duty in Iraq and work with the Polish units there with our forces.

Greetings from Poland! Our Wisconsin PAC Webmaster, Mr. Daniel Dudzik, was in
Warsaw in January. Here's Dan, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside,
near the heart of the capital, the corner of Marszalkowska Street and Al.
Jeruzelijmskie. Needless to say, Dan had a great time in Poland.

Mr. Frank Spula, the newly elected President of the Polish American
Congress is a special guest and speaker at the 8th annual Polish
Independence Day/Veterans Day banquet sponsored by the Wisconsin State
Division of the Polish American Congress on November 13, 2005 at the
Polish Center of Wisconsin. His thoughtful and upbeat message was very
well received. Mr. Mariusz Gbiorczyk represented Mr. Jaroslaw Lasinski,
Poland's Consul General in Chicago and also spoke at the banquet.

before a public program featuring PIASA members at the great "Leonardo da Vinci
and the Splendor of Poland" Art exhibition in Milwaukee. Pictured from left to

November 19, 2005: Wisconsin PAC President Don Pienkos, Dr. Karen Majewski, and
Dr. Piotr Wandycz at the Polish Consulate in New York City. They were at the
annual Awards ceremony of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America
(PIASA)at the Consulate. Dr. Majewski, who is also the newly elected mayor of
Hamtramck, Michigan, received PIASA'a award for her book, TRAITORS AND
TRUEPATRIOTS. It deals with the popular literature of pre-1940 Polonia. Prof.
Wandycz is PIASA's President; Prof. Pienkos is on its Board of Directors.

Don Pienkos and Milwaukee friend Bill Roche at the tomb of Agaton Giller in Warsaw's Powazki Cemetery. Giller was a leader of the 1863 Polish uprising for freedom. He later was the "godfather" who helped inspire the creation of the Polish National Alliance in 1880. |

June 2005:
Wisconsin PAC member Paul Pienkos standing in front of a Polish tank at the Museum of the great battle of Falaise Gap Of August 1944, in Normandy. In This battle, the heroic soldiers of the 1st Polish Armored Division played a decisive role in causing the near total defeat of the Nazi German army trying to retreat eastward to Paris. 50,000 German soldiers were either killed or captured in this battle, along with nearly all their tanks and field weapons. The 1st Polish Armored Division was part of the great 2 million man Allied Army made up of soldiers, sailors and airmen from the United States, Britain, Canada, and France whose victory in the great Battle of Normandy signaled the end of WWII in Europe. |
